Qualitative research is expensive:

• Equipment (computers and audio and video data collection and storage devices) as well as transcription is costly

• Qualitative research - data collection and analysis - is a time consuming enterprise that involves input from a knowledgable, multidisciplinary research team. 

• Grant proposals should secure enough time and money for adequate training for those who will be collecting data.  Training can be a time intensive process, if done properly.  Project timelines should be carefully evaluated.  Projects with timelines that are too short will likely push the analysis team to reach analytic closure prematurely.

• Grant proposal should also have enough time and money budgeted to accomplish the data collection and analysis goals
